Remembering To Dream

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we often forget to take some time to dream about the future. But dreaming for ourselves is essential for any kind of growth because it gives us the motivation to strive for something greater.

What Are Dreams?

Dreams are the hopes and aspirations we have for our future. They are a way of visualizing the success, happiness, and fulfillment that we hope to achieve in our lifetime. Our dreams can be small or large, but what matters most is that we never stop striving for them.

Dreams can provide us with direction, motivation, and focus. We can use our dreams to help us make decisions or take steps toward achieving them. They can also motivate us to work hard and stay focused on the goals that we have set for ourselves.

How we Forget to Dream

When we’re children, we’re often encouraged to dream and to believe that anything is possible. We’re encouraged to imagine ourselves in a variety of future scenarios and to see the world with unfiltered optimism.

However, as we get older, we become bogged down in responsibilities and obligations, and our dreams often take a back seat. We worry about completing tasks or meeting deadlines, and we forget to take time for ourselves or to look ahead to the potential possibilities. We get caught up in the day-to-day and lose sight of our dreams.

Forgetting to dream can cause us to feel disconnected from our deepest desires. When we make time for ourselves to reflect, dream, and plan, we can channel our energy into realizing these dreams and achieving our goals.

Dreams can also help us to focus our energy on the things we love and strengthen our connection to our joys and passions. When we set and pursue our dreams, we gain a sense of accomplishment, pride, and fulfillment, which brings us closer to our purpose. So, it’s important to carve out the time to dream and to remain open to the endless possibilities the future may hold.

Remembering to Dream

Since you’re here, I believe you’re ready to start dreaming again.

The first step to following your dreams is to take some time to consciously think about what you want out of life. So, think about your goals, dreams, and deepest desires.

To get started, ask yourself the following questions and really think about your answers:

  • What do you want to achieve?
  • Who do you want to become?
  • What do you want to experience?

Write down your answers to these questions, as well as any other thoughts you had in relation to your hopes and dreams, and review them.

Next, it’s important to formulate a plan of action and create a timeline for achieving these goals. When making the plan, remember to focus on the obstacles you might face and devise strategies to help you overcome them. Break down the dreams into smaller steps and visualize yourself completing each step.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the key components of remembering how to dream.

Pursue Your Passions

In addition to making an action plan, you need to ensure you are taking steps to pursue your passions. This could mean taking a class, reading a book, exploring a new hobby, or creating something. As these small steps turn into successes, they will fuel your motivation and remind you of how capable you are of achieving your dreams. As long as what you’re pursuing brings you joy and moves you closer to your goals, then you’re on the right track.

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

Getting out of your comfort zone and taking risks is also an essential part of remembering to dream. By getting out of your comfort zone, you will experience personal growth and learn a lot about yourself and the reality of your dreams. The courage to take risks also demonstrates a level of commitment and passion for your accomplishing your dreams, ultimately leading to bigger successes.

Challenge Yourself

Speaking of challenging yourself, it’s important to be realistic yet ambitious with what you want to achieve. Make sure that your dreams are tangible and achievable. Break up your big-picture dreams into smaller, more manageable parts and take them one step at a time.

For instance, instead of jumping into a complete career change to get your dream job, you could start by setting smaller goals, such as gaining more knowledge and experience related to that field. This could involve taking classes, certifications, or internships. Once you have gained the necessary skills, you can begin to look for job opportunities relating to your dream job, as you now have the expertise and experience to be considered as a candidate.

Make Mistakes

As you try new things, you’ll naturally make mistakes. Learning from your mistakes and using them to inform your next steps is essential to making progress in any endeavor.

Acknowledge and take ownership of your mistakes, and try to identify what you could have done differently. Then, evaluate what happened, reflect on why it happened, and use that knowledge to improve your current strategies.

This will help you continue to grow, learn, and make progress toward achieving your dreams. Additionally, having the courage to take risks and make mistakes without fear of judgment is key to reaching your full potential. Remember, every mistake is an opportunity for growth.

Do What Makes YOU Happy

Finally, remember that this transition to pursuing your dreams should be based on what makes you happy. Take the time to reflect on what you really want out of your life, and create a plan for how you will achieve your dreams based on your personal interests, values, and needs.
